Camp Casey Chronicles - The Road Home
Finally agreeing to drive across Texas from Arizona, I had no idea that this is so much more than a stand for peace, for truth, and for waking up to what is going on in our country. As if that is not enough, I find myself on a pilgrimage through my roots in Midland (in the early 50's with the Bush family), Colorado City, now essentially boarded up between Higginbotham Bartlett Lumber yard and the cattle sale that still occurs on Wednesdays at 1:00.
Through Abilene where my father hitchhiked from Patosi to McMurry College for four years, never missing a class for lack of a ride; and on to Waco, where the Christian Reconstruction movement is in full swing and the Branch Dividian movement was grounded, and finally to Crawford to join the Cindy Sheehan stand against the Iraq war.
These entries chronicle the journey, the people who have shown up to take this stand, and offer musings on next steps.
It is truly a journey of soul.
